If you are going to use Pinterest for business, you need to make sure you are using it strategically. If you don't have a strategy you won't do the work or use the platform intentionally to help your business. Here I discuss the types of things you need to consider to help out your strategy together alongside your business plan.
So firstly, what are you goals for Pinterest?
A lot of people think they should be using Pinterest and they want to be on Pinterest. But then when you delve deeper, they're not quite sure why. So have a think about your why and why it's important for your business, why you think it'll be a great marketing tool for your business?
Once you realise this put some goals around it. Have a think about the types of things that you want to do and the types of content that you want to create. So how many times do you want to pin a week? How many times can you realistically commit to?
You know, it's all about starting and progress over perfection!
Ok so second, you have your goals all broken down, and you really have a clear idea of how you are going to show up on Pinterest and your overall plan. Now it is time to get your calendar out.
You will have planned out your year based on any launches you've got, any particular themes going on in your business, when you are creating content, if you are doing events etc so you have a clear idea on a month by month basis, how and what you're doing with your business.
So take your calendar and your goals for Pinterest and make a plan on what is going on in your business.
For example we're going to pin seven times a week. So that's once a day, (easy for my brain to do!) And then part of those seven times in a week, one of them is going to be new content. For example you write one blog post each week.
Then use your calendar to plan out what pins you need to create based on any themes, launches etc that are going on in your business.
For the first quarter let's say January is keeping visible, February is a product launch, March email list bundling.
You now know what your focus in the business is and how many times you are pinning. Now you need to create your Pin Graphics, write the strategic descriptions and make sure each one has a call to action (CTA). We know that January is about giving value so your CTA could be 'click here to read this blog' you send them to your website, 'click here to read my tip in full' you send them to your instagram post. February could be as simple as 'click here to buy'.
Lastly batch make all your pin graphics and schedule them on Pinterest with your description and CTA!
Pin Tip
Remember Pinterest is a search engine. People will go on all the time at different times to search for different things. Make sure you are at the forefront of somebody's mind when they're going to make a purchase, find out more or get help.
Take your overall business year into quarters and work out what your theme is for each month.
Plan the content you are sharing based on your theme e.g. launching a product so it will be pins of your product
Create your Pin graphics and schedule them or manually pin whatever works for you!
Happy Pinning!
