10 Tips for using Pinterest

Ok you know the importance of Pinterest Marketing and why it is so important for your business! Here is my top tips for using Pinterest.

1. Get a business Account 

Firstly it is simple to get a business account. You can either upgrade a personal account or set up a business account from the start. With a business account you can claim your website and claim your instagram or etsy platform. 

You will get access to your analytics, this gives you great insight into your audience demographics, when they are active but it will also tell you what pins are doing well, how many clicks and saves you have along with your top performing boards. 

With a business account you can promote pins, basically advertise like facebook.  You have to be a business to enable this. 

2. Know your words!

Keywords are the word to describe your pin, item, service, product or business. Keywords help you organise your content effectively. So when someone completes a search using one of your words your content will show in their results! This is the basics of Search Engine Optimisation or SEO.

3. Be consistent!

Yup, it's something we talk about in all areas of our business but Pinterest is no different. The more consistently you pin the more Pinterest will recognise you as a consistent pinner and show your content to others! 

4. Build your list!

Pinterest is a great way to build your email list. Ensure you have opt ins at the end of your blog, share your opt in on Pinterest and tell them to join in the strategic descriptions.

5. Target your boards

Pinterest is an amazing inspirational place to gather ideas from what colour to paint your living room to what to have for tea. However your boards need to be targeted and relevant to your ideal client. Any boards that might be random or specific to you secret them! When your ideal client comes to your profile you want them to stick around so make the user experience great!

6. Click, Click, Click

The purpose of your pins is for your ideal client to click to go to your website, blog or wherever else you are sending them. We want to move them away from the Pinterest platform so you can generate qualified leads and traffic. Make sure your pins are clickable! In other words, attractive, scroll stoping and of quality.

7. Make them take action!

In every single pin you create you want to make sure there is a clear and specific call to action (CTA). Tell your ideal client what you want them to do. If you are adding pins with no destination or without getting your ideal client to take action your time and efforts are wasted! Make sure every pin has a CTA!

8. Welcome!

Make sure your profile and bio creates a welcome. So let's have a great photo of you, a clear description of who you are and how you can help them and make sure to use your lead magnet in the bio. Ensuring your profile is on point, will help attract your ideal client (remember those keywords) and get them to stick around i.e. follow you.

9. The right content

Make sure the pins and content (blog, post, you tube video etc) is relevant and appropriate for your ideal client. Always have that one person in mind, so you can ensure that the content and pins you create are attracting the people that will buy from you!

10. Make your own

Yes I recommend you can pin other peoples content and that Pinterest wants us to collaborate but choose to pin your own content before pinning others. After all you are using Pinterest to market your business to generate leads and sales. So make sure you prioritise creating your own pins and sharing those before others.
